Join chef, Ben Bayly, as he travels the country to meet the farmers, growers, hunters, divers, fishermen and passionate foodies to seek new inspiration for the menu of his award-winning restaurant, Ahi, located in Commercial Bay, Auckland. 

A New Zealand Food Story is an observational documentary series that genuinely captures the process chef Ben Bayly takes to ensure his New Zealand inspired restaurant, Ahi, is serving cuisine distinctly unique to Aotearoa while also telling the story of how your meal ends up on your plate.  

The story is set against the incredible picturesque landscape of New Zealand juxtaposed with the hustle and bustle of the restaurant’s location in inner-city Auckland.  While the focus may be on the food the real stories lie with the people who are growing, hunting and gathering.  By connecting to the people behind the ingredients and listening to their stories, Ben is able to give his menu more meaning while at the same time seeking inspiration from the environment the food originates from.
